Food + Films equals the IFS Food Film Festival

Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro and Bramble and Hare are one of the sponsors for this week’s IFS Food Film Festival (www.chow-down.com), which takes places from Wednesday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 13.

Boulder’s first event devoted to all things food and films, the festival consists of seven food films and two  food-related events. Bramble and Hare is hosting a wine  tasting on Thursday, Oct. 10, 6:30 in honor of the showing of the wine documentary, “Somm,” that will screen the next night.

The wine tasting features six wines that exemplify the theme of excellent and distinctive wines under $15 and how to find them. Accredited sommelier Julie Meyers of
clink! educational wine events will guide the tasting. The price is $21. Attendance is limited, so RSVP at (303) 444-5500 to reserve your spot.

The other food-related event is a Hummus Throwdown at Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place on Sunday, Oct. 13, 4pm.

The films include both feature films and documentaries and have a wide range of subject matter.A vintage documentary celebrating garlic, “Garlic is as Good as Ten
Mothers” kicks off the festival this Wednesday, Oct. 9, 6:30 at the Boulder Public Library. The remaining five films, which resume on Friday, Oct. 11, will screen at  Muenzinger Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus as part of the International Film Series (IFS).

Eric will be introducing “Now, Forager” on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2pm at Muenzinger Auditorium. “Now, Forager” follows the relationship between a professor mushroom forager and his wife, who is a chef. The backdrop for the movie is foraging for mushrooms in the outdoors and the preparation of food in restaurant kitchens.
