Happy May!

In Hawaii, May day is officially Lei Day with a different signature lei for each island and school celebrations with outdoor games. There is a popular song that starts with “May day is lei day in Hawaii,” so here’s to May day in Colorado albeit without flower leis.

The Black Cat Farm lambing season kicked off with the birth of the first lamb. It should continue for several weeks with a May full of staggered births. The Black Cat Bistro and Bramble and Hare Facebook pages both provided a picture of the new lamb. For the latest pictures and tidbits, you can like our Facebook pages to receive automatic updates.

Baby pak choi

Eric raved about this spring’s baby pak choi, mentioning that it is the best that he has ever grown. If you are unfamiliar with pak choi in its infancy, its small leaves are succulent, crunchy, and sweet. Eric recommends that you eat it raw (perhaps in a salad) or include it in a stir fry.
