The Black Cat Farm booth at the Boulder Farmers’ Market will include the following produce on May 28, 2016:
- Arugula
- Chard
- Cilantro
- Edible flowers (arugula, dianthus, mustard greens, turnip)
- Kale
- Lettuce mix
- Minutina
- Mizuna
- Parsley
- Peppercress
- Scallions
- Sorrel
- Spring onions
Pork cuts will also be available. Speaking of pork, we will have a bounty of pork available for the next few months. We recently processed eight pigs for the Boulder and Union Station farmers market. We are replete with our flavorful pork.
Except for unusual items, such as heads, just about every part of the pigs is for sale, including ground pork, shoulder and loin roasts, ribs, belly, hocks, and fat. So, stop on by and take advantage of our large selection.
A family connection between the kitchen and farm
Just like any business, we value the recommendations of our employees. So, when the Black Cat Bistro chef de cuisine, Heraclio Garza recommended his cousin, Pablo Silva, for a job on the Black Cat Farm, we listened.
Pablo is a new member this year of our Mexican farm worker crew. A mechanic, from day one, he has been operating and maintaining all of our heavy equipment, such as the tractor and excavator. This is different than last year when it took time to sufficiently train and monitor members of the crew so that they could relieve Eric from solo tractor duty.
When Heraclio starts his day in the kitchen singing, we know that the food is going to be good that evening. As Pablo spends more time on the farm, we wonder if he will also serenade the farm and if we will see extra straight rows in the fields when he operates the tractor.
