We are happy to announce that we will be attending our first market of 2015 this weekend. Eric and Jill look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
The Black Cat Farm booth at the Boulder Farmers’ Market will include the following produce on April 11, 2015:
- Baby fennel
- Carrots
- Celery leaves
- Greens mix (escarole, frisee, mache, parsley, radicchio)
- Mache
- Parsley
- Parsnips
- Spinach
- Swiss chard
Besides our usual excellent produce, we will have plenty of copies of Eric’s delicious cookbook, Farm Fork Food: A Year of Spectacular Recipes Inspired by Black Cat Farm, for him to sign.
Last spring, as part of the great asparagus project, Eric, the Black Cat Farm crew, and Boulder County Open Space volunteers planted asparagus crowns on two acres of new fields. The plan was to sell asparagus for one to two weeks this spring as the plants become established with longer harvesting periods and larger yields in subsequent years.
The asparagus from last year’s planting is just starting to emerge. A small quantity has made its appearance on the Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro menu. Sometime soon, there will be short period when it will show up at the market. Until then, here’s a photo of one of the first spears pushing its way upwards.
