It’s a weekend meant for savoring the harvest, don’t you think? With fields across Boulder County now enjoying such abundance, it’s the eye of the bullseye for meals revolving around local, local, local. Sweet corn from the cob, and fresh tomatoes simply sliced. Pico de gallo, gazpacho and ratatouille. Eggplant Parmesan. Peppers sauteed in olive oil and showered with salt. Radishes with sweet butter. Pesto. You get the picture.
With so many Boulder restaurants leveraging local produce for the next month or so, it’s also an ideal time to head out for meals. And since we grow most of the food for our two restaurants, we offer local in an especially profound manner. From most of our meats to our greens to our beets, carrots, cauliflower and turnips (and myriad more ingredients), dining at Black Cat and Bramble & Hare is an adventure in seasonal Boulder County dining.
We are eager for tomorrow’s James Beard Foundation Celebrity Chef Tour, which we are hosting outside on 13th Street in front of our restaurants. The dinner involves an enviable casts of chefs and artisans from around the country — it’s going to be special.
We also look forward to tomorrow’s Market, also on 13th Street in downtown Boulder (but a few blocks from the restaurants). We hope to see you at the Market, in the restaurants or at the James Beard dinner this weekend!
