If you dine at Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro or Bramble and Hare, there’s a good chance that the greens or root vegetables on your plate have been freshly harvested on the Black Cat Farm. With the use of row cover cloth, the produce season has extended into winter. The anticipation is that fresh herbs and vegetables that were planted last fall will be available from now to early spring.
The picture above shows a farm worker who is harvesting spinach amidst an insulating blanket of snow in early January. Other produce that Black Cat Farm workers are harvesting include frisee, Canasta lettuce, escarole, parsnips, beets, turnip, and parsley root. All should continue into the spring. They will start harvesting cilantro, sorrel, and chervil soon.
