If you like spinach and cardoons
Last week’s market was the debut of the Black Cat Farm’s fall spinach. Young spinach harvested during cool weather is tender and beautiful. If you are a spinach lover, it’s time to take advantage of the season’s first spinach.
While we had a small batch of cardoons available a few weeks ago, last week’s market was the first one that offered a large crop of big beautiful cardoon stalks. This blog contains posts from last year on preparing cardoons for inclusion on your cooking and cardoon recipes from Eric.
Eric’s cookbook has landed!
Eric’s cache of new cookbook, “Farm, Fork, Food: A Year of Spectacular Recipes Inspired by Black Cat Farm,” has arrived before they arrive in stores and online outlets on October 23rd. You can take a look at the Black Cat Farm booth at the market, during Eric’s demos of dishes from the book at the market (every other week, resuming on Oct. 11), and at Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro. Last weekend’s demo dish was a divine ratatouille from the cookbook, topped by a thin slice of Italian Taleggio cheese. Even Black Cat Farm workersk, who are no strangers to the fare at Bramble and Hare and Black Cat, were licking their lips.
You can also partake of dishes from the cookbook, listen to Eric talk about farm-to-table world, and attend a cookbook signing at the Bramble and Hare lunch for the Flatirons Food Film Festival on Sunday, Oct. 19th, 11:45pm. Call Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro at 303.444.5500 to reserve your spot for the lunch.
