BCFM Season Begins & So Does New Market for Black Cat!

Black Cat Organic Farm
We can’t wait to visit with you Saturday morning at the kick-off of the 2023 Boulder County Farmers Market in downtown Boulder from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a new one for Black Cat Organic Farm — the market in Longmont — from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The forecast suggests climatic glory, and based on the vitality of our fields this year, we can guarantee jaw-dropping majesty on offer at our expansive booth.

Greenhouse Glee

As the Front Range continues modeling its March climate after East Lansing, MI, Eric has interred himself in the greenhouse, where he is exceedingly busy coaxing little seeds to sprout, spread and rise into proper branching plants.

Complement Winter With Blanquette and Bramble

Blanquettes are lovely French preparations. The main difference between a blanquette and what we think of as a standard stew is the sauce. Where a typical stew often is dark, thanks to ingredients like tomatoes, red wine and beef broth, blanquettes swaddle braised meat in cream sauces. Meanwhile, the blanquette meat itself can broadcast the classic stew flavors, as it often is braised in traditional stew ingredients before joining the cream sauce in what always holds potential as a beautiful marriage. With a proper blanquette, you get two wonderful things — meats braised in things like wine and herbs, and luscious cream sauces — in one dish.
