The Black Cat Farm booth at the Boulder Farmers’ Market will include the following produce on November 8,2014:

- Hinona Kabu, a Japanese turnip

- Minutina (also called buckshorn and erba stella)

- Perpetual spinach
- Radishes, Hailstone, Japanese winter
- Sorrel
- Spicy Asian greens mix
- Spinach
- Storing onions, several varieties
- Turnips
Non-produce items available will consist of chicken eggs.
Cookbook launch celebration dinner
Many thanks to everyone who attended the cookbook launch dinner. Eric introduced every dish and dispensed cooking tips along with descriptions of the food and tales of writing the cookbook.
Among the tips were the use of fermented black beans, incorporated most often in Chinese cuisine, as a flavor enhancer (unless you taste one directly) that enhances the savory umami aspect of a dish and adding bay scallops as the last ingredient in a saute and turning off the heat for a few seconds before serving.
An optional wine pairing featured such gems as Chateau Kirwan from the Margaux district of Bordeaux, France that accompanied the duo of Colorado beef and the Madeira paired with the Pistachio Financier.
For those who were unable to attend this dinner, look for another cookbook celebration dinner next month. When there is a date available, we will let you know.
