Non-produce items available will consist of chicken and turkey eggs, pork pate, and assorted Mulefoot pork cuts (belly, shoulder, roast, hocks). Also, the heavenly host will be singing as bacon finally makes its triumphant return  after several false starts.

This is the last weekend for cabbages.

New to the market

This week, a French pickling cucumber, the D’Borane variety, will make its 2013 debut at the Black Cat farm booth. The French harvest these cucumbers when very young to make cornichon pickles from them. It is one of the quintessential pickling cucumber varieties for making cornichon.

We are offering finger-sized and larger D’Borane cucumbers. You can use them to make delicious pickles no matter the size of the cucumbers.

Perpetual Spinach is a cross between Swiss chard and spinach that is flavorful but not as tender as spinach.  In contrast to spinach, Perpetual Spinach grows in hot weather, which is why the Black Cat farm grows. You can use it as a cooking green or in salads, which are how the Black Cat Farm Table Bistro and Bramble and Hare restaurant use it.

Also, the long-awaited storage onions will arrive this week.
